About abap2UI5
What it is
abap2UI5 is an open-source project: a framework for building UI5 apps in ABAP, released under the MIT license, and the sites around it - this page, the documentation, the samples, the playground and the browser tools, the addons. All of it is free, and none of it is a commercial offer. There is no company behind it, no product to buy and nothing to sign up for.
Who runs it
abap2UI5 is a community project, built and maintained by many contributors in their free time. The code and the sites live in the GitHub organisations abap2UI5 and abap2UI5-addons. To reach the maintainers, write to contact@abap2UI5.org or open an issue in the repository the question is about.
Your data
The sites collect nothing. They are static pages served by GitHub Pages: no accounts, no cookies of their own, no analytics, no tracking. Like any web server, GitHub may keep access logs; what it keeps and for how long is in GitHub's privacy statement.
The browser tools run in your browser. The Playground, the Layout Editor and the Report Converter compile and run your ABAP on your own machine; the code never leaves it unless you share a link yourself.
The AI App Builder and the AI Agent talk to an AI model only when you enter your own API key. Then what you type, and the code the tool works on, is sent to the provider that key belongs to (OpenAI, Anthropic, or a server you name, including one on your own machine) under that provider's terms. The key is held in your browser for the visit and is never sent anywhere else. Without a key, nothing is sent at all.
No warranty
The framework and the tools are provided as they are, without warranty of any kind, as the MIT license says. Before you run anything on a system you care about, read the code - it is all there.
